BUILT LIKE A TANK & CONSISTENT FULL RANGE TEMP

I needed a 2nd smoker and decided to try the Broil King Pellet XL. I recently purchased another brand and wasn't satisfied with the overall performance so I decided to try the BK pellet and it's been fantastic! I love how quick it heats up, the consistency of temp, the cast iron cooking grates. I also want to give a huge shout out to the firepot ash release which allows me to start each session with a clean firepot without having to take the whole thing appart. I am really really impressed with the easy to use/read display AND YOU CAN PROPERLY SEAR & COOK STEAK!!!! This is something I have not been able to do with any Pellet unit in the past. Hats off to you Broil King for this quality product. So glad I was able to find a unit that does everything I want and I am able to support a local business at the same time!!

Perfect so far

I have used it 4 times. 2 beef briskets, whole chicken on the rotisserie, and some very thick beef striploin steaks. Grill has fantastic features and options that come with it. Wifi is a bonus with 2 temperature probes that can be seen from basically anywhere. Only issue so far has been moderating the temperature. There seems to be a plus or minus factor of 40 degrees. I had prepped my second beef brisket and despite ideal outdoor weather conditions, I struggled to maintain a constant smoking temperature. I was constantly checking it. The hopper bucket is fairly large which is a bonus. On average the augers pulled in about a pound of pellets per hour at the smoking temperature which varied between 175 and 250 degrees despite having the smoke button dialed in. Although the grill is solid, I noticed that it was made in China? Fortunately BK stand behind their products, so it shouldn't be a problem?

Masterful Grill For The Grillmaster

This bad boy is second to none. First off, it is built like a tank. I had been looking at pellet grills for their versatility, since my previous smoker died the morning of Thanksgiving 2018. I compared dozens of brands, read reviews, and visited forums. Just about all of them are made in China or Taiwan, NOT THIS ONE. This magnificent creature is made in North America, by North Americans. It might not be USA made, but Canada is as close as you can get. The thickness of the metal is solid, everything fits together the way it should, and at 250 pounds out of the box, it's the pellet grill heavyweight champion of the world. It is heavy, so if you are not as impatient as I was, have a buddy help you. The grill and I weigh the same, so I was able to stand it up without damaging it, after I installed the legs, by myself. I am fortunate to have a Wi-Fi extender for my smart garage door opener, get the unit paired to my phone and connected via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth was seemless. I recommend having a strong and not wonky signal for it. Don't complain if you don't stay connected; Wi-Fi extenders are cheap. Look for a cheap one on various sites, new or used. Don't cheap out. For God's sake, you just spent over a $K on a grill. I already did the initial burn in, seasoned it, and completed one rather marvelous cook on it. For its maiden voyage, I smoked and reverse seared, two Delmonico ribeyes, two New York strips, and a lovely tri-tip. Since it was the first time I used it, I could probably do better next time as far as the grill marks on the meat, but the taste and looks speak for themselves. Two days later, I smoke/roasted a fresh, organic, never frozen whole chicken, using the rotisserie. That weekend, I did about 35 hamburgers. I was very much wanting to do either a frozen or take-and-bake pizza on there, but it's Wisconsin, in winter, and wouldn't ya know it, it got cold. I've had no connection problems, and no issues with the app whatsoever. I think most complaints are just user/operator error. Before you whine and post a 1-star review from your safe-space and/or parents' basement, try reaching out to get help. Companies can be misrepresented with negative reviews, because people don't do their due diligence first, and then reach out for help. Ron has been more than accommodating by chat or email, when I have needed anything.

Great after working out some initial bugs

I bought this grill fully assembled and delivered by Saines Ace Hardware of Lincolnton NC. The controller allowed some wide temperature fluctuations on my first cook. I contacted BroilKing and they sent a replacement controller. An easy swap out and it works perfectly. I found problems with the app on my Android phone, but I pulled out an old Apple Ipad and it works flawlessly. This is the first smoker I have ever owned, and I hoped I was starting out with the best. The Broil King pellets burn much more efficiently then the other brands. I hope they come out with more options like apple and pecan.

What a beast

I just got mine(2019 model) last week. This thing is built like a tank, 300 shipping pounds with premium cover. Even after opening box and removing all the parts it was still in need of three people to turn over for assembly. We did it with two but it was a trick. No china junk here, even the screws come in a molded clam shell so you don't have to sort or cut out. Everything comes in a box or wrapped . The quality is top shelf, only one screw hole is tapped in the piece otherwise everything is done with nutserts(threaded inserts). The assembly instructions are perfect, didn't forget a thing and left the printing to a minimum. The lid alone feels like it weighs a 100 lbs. and it will sink in soft soil. Even the cover is heavy, I bought the premium version. One thing I noticed is that with the textured paint finish the packing foam leaves marks that have to be scrubbed out. So far I think I made the right choice over the well known brand. I wish more stores carried it so more could see it more.

Next level versatility!

So impressed with this grill! Great low and slow cooking...but high heat true searing temperatures set this grill apart. Also really love the rotisserie function! The constructive quality, like my gas grill is everything I've come to expect from Broilking.

Built like a tank - best grill or smoker ever

I bought this a month ago and it's helped me produce the best-tasting food I've ever made. The fact that I can sear on it in addition to smoking is a game-changer for me.

May be a 5 star, but time will tell

I bought this grill sight-unseen through a recommendation from Abt (Chicago). I almost gave up on pellet grills as the augers kept failing. Humidity is a major problem here, the pellets would break apart and come back together so hard it would jam the auger and burn out the motor. I am more careful to clear out the pellets after each cook now. As for the Broil King: superior build, superior control panel. I would give it 5 stars but the only thing I have not been able to test... is longevity, of course. But so far, so good. As for temp variation... yes, there is some during the first 30 minutes to an hour, but it does even out. I can live with that as otherwise it is performing very well.

This grill is exactly what I expected from Broil King. I hesitate between the 400 pro and a treager but I'm sure now I make the good choice. The quality of this product is incomparable and the application for using it anywhere work great . I talk to David Cowie , this guy is a true genius who help me quick and easy for the connection between my grill and my phone. The customer support is very good and everything work fine . I highly recommend this product for the real one who want the best of broil King can give

Great Grill well constructed North American Made

I found the grill to be one of the best made grills that can keep the temperature set even when the weather gets cold. It has a very thick metal lid, and case, the cast iron grates are easy to care for as long as you season them regularly. I have cooked Pizza, Salmon, Burgers, Steaks, Chicken and Pork Chops. All came out wonderful and never burned or overcooked. The temperature probes are very handy, and provide you an added bonus. I have not used the rotisserie yet, I settled on just removing the top rack and doing Beer Can Chicken using a Ceramic stand.

It's a Tank!

I acquired my Regal400 just over a week now and already have gone through 100lbs of pellets. As someone who's been cooking with a pellet grill for the past 4+ years, size for size, pound for pound I can honestly tell you this grill does not even compare to the other common popular brands. I have been looking at getting one as far back as 2018 when I first saw a pre production model then used one at a BBQ competition in 2019. Ive done low and slow and hot and fast cooks and oh my, does it get hot! Definitely put this model or the 500 on your very short list!

Simply Amazing!

On the expensive side but completely worth every penny. Easy to assemble and even simpler to use. Built like a tank, it feels like it'll last 10 years or more. You set the temparature like an oven so you get perfect results every time. My favorite feature so far is the fact that you can monitor the internal temp from a distance. If you work from home, you can start a slow smoked cook at your lunch break and set alarms based on internal temp. You can go work and it'll let you know when you need to do something. I've had amazing results for both slow smoking and hoter quick cooks like burgers and steaks. I have yet to try the rotissery though.

Wouldn't Believe it unless I tried it!!

I got this Pellet grill over 3 months ago and I have become addicted to this thing. I have 4 forms of grill/bbq's and i use this everyday for everything and nothing else. It does it all...smoke , braise, bake and IT GRILLS! i got the temp to over 600 degrees and it stayed there. I grill burgers on this, effortlessly, no having to move them around due to grease fires. I baked a foccacia on this and WOW, what a flvour! Easy to use, easy to clean, easy to follow and all on my phone. Thanks kids for showing me how. Ya so i'm an old guy!
I got the pellet grill and you don't....yet!
Long live the grill ...oops the pellet grill!
Great job Broil King!

The Best Pellet Grill on the market

I've been using this grill for over a month and it works perfectly. The Broil King Pellet XL is a feature-rich, high quality, heavily built pellet grill that is second to none. It's as if Broil King assembled a group of Pitmasters and a design team in a room with a blank sheet of paper and this is what they've created. I looked at pellet grills priced from $500 to $3800 and this is by far the very best value, best-configured grill on the market under $1800 CAD - bar none. It is heavily constructed with it's cast iron reversible grates and 2mm tank-like construction. But also solves some of the day-to-day challenges of older style pellet grills such as ash and grease clean-out. It doesn't stop there however, they have also made it possible to change out pellets in-between cooks with a sliding hopper door, plus integrated storage racks for the included rotisserie. Did I mention the two meat probes that you can monitor via a WiFi or Bluetooth connection from your grill? Or the residential oven-like dial temperature controller with large, tilted back-lit LCD screen for easy viewing? The list goes on and on. There are some things which need tweaking but when comparing grills side-by-side, this is so far ahead of the competition as to be in its own category. Well done Broil King. This is my new favourite grill!
